Carolyn, Daughter of Marie

Advocating Against Domestic Violence Through Poetry

Marie’s Little Girl

 I gave it my all

till I had nothing left,

Then I remembered

I hadn’t given myself.

I reached inside

a light came on,

What I thought I still had

was suddenly gone.

Here I stand

alone in the dark,

Trying to mimic the feeling

of an arrow reaching its mark.

I’ve got the “know how”

just don’t know “when to”,

Procrastination, procrastination

is all I ever do.

I struggle & strive

to reach for fame,

Can’t let my words die

can’t let this all merely be in vain.

I will be triumphant

My words will be heard,

I will reach the masses

For I am “Marie’s little girl”.
